SHINE is a look backward from the present to Salem's 1860 charter. In each year we have four sections: glimpses of what was happening around the world, a special event in Salem, what you see when you visit that site today, and other Salem events of interest that year.

Friends of Two Bridges

The Friends of Two Bridges is a committee dedicated to the completion and maintenance of the soon-to-open Union Street Railroad Bridge and the projected Minto-Brown Bridge. Both will provide pedestrians and bicyclists new connections between three of Salem's fine parks.
The group has started a new blog: http://friends2bridges.blogspot.com. Check it often for information on the bridges' progression!

This is a great way to keep updated on progress of the restoration of the Union Street Bridge and to learn the process for creating a new one for pedestrian and biking use.
On February 12, 2009, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at the Anderson Room in the Salem Library, there will be a Community Briefing about the Minto Island Bridge. You are invited!
